Contribution of Tissue??

This is the most ridiculous letter I ever received from Jamie's school. Thought we pay for the school fees mah. On 2nd thought, I wonder if I need to contribute toilet papers or rice too? Wahahhahaa..

Back to School

Now that school finally re-opens, I have mixed feeling. Glad that Jamie finally can see her teachers and friends but I'm also grown tired of her bringing virus back home once every 1-2months. Just hope that her immune system is much stronger now after 1/2yr in school.

Tying Shoe Laces

I always have this impression that Jamie may not be able to grasp the idea of how to tie a shoe (though I did demo to her when she was barely 3) lace till she pestered me to get this when we were in a toy shop. Knowing that this exercise will improve her fine motor skills, I agreed to buy it. After showing her twice, she surprised me with the completed job done by herself! Wah..... this means that soon she can try on shoes with laces!!!

Shapes & Patterns

Found some time to dig out some of my teaching materials and this afternoon, Jamie was taught about the geometric shapes and its name like what is a sphere, cube, square based pyramic, triangle based pyramic, rectangular prism, cyclinder, cone etc. And here's she was doing some revision on simple patterns.

English Speech & Drama Camp

The Performance
Jamie was in the camp since 18-22 June, from 2-5pm daily. She's one of the youngest kid. Judging from the materials and the performance the kids did on the last day, I supposed she indeed has learnt something out of it.

It's About Time

Jeremy finally hits 18months old on 2nd June this month and this also means that he is ready for some of the practical life sensory skills exercises that I will be lining up for him. Now apart from reading flash cards to him (either from cards, books or TV), I will excercise his teeny weeny fingers' muscles with the use of knobbed puzzles, picking up peanuts/beans or playdough. Soon he will be like his Jie Jie, working on activities books as well as computer. Wow time flies, Jeremy has grown up!!

Congratulations!!

Received the KK Juniors Club letter yesterday evening. What ?? Jeremy has been selected as one fo the semi-finalists for Best Breastfed Baby Contest 2007 ? What a surprise!!! It will be held at IMM Shopping Mall, Level 2, Atrium, 7 July 2007. Let's hope for the best then.

Campaign Against Dengue

The number of homes found breeding with the deadly Aedes mosquito is on the rise. In February, 140 homes were found breeding. This increased to 258 in March and again to 454 in April. The figures represent a three-fold increase in two months, a worrying trend that needs to be curbed immediately. Another worrying trend is the increase in the number of larvae observed. In February, NEA officers found over 4,600 larvae. This increased to 10,500 in March and again to 15,200 in April. This is more than three-fold increase in two months similar to the number of breedings found. Coupled with the increased mosquito population and a longer infective period for each female mosquito owing to the impact of warmer temperature, this increase in breedings can only point to one outcome if not arrested: more dengue cases. Happy Father's Day

Papa we love you! Jamie did this card almost all by herself except I helped to cut the paper, traced the star together & drew the heart shape.

Invitation To Participate In the Research Study : A Study on Refractive Error, Amblyopia and Strabismus in Singapore Preschoolers.

Just when I'm thinking of bringing Jamie for her 1st eyes screening at a polyclinic, I received a letter in our mailbox, Invitation to free eye check for Singapore Chinese Children Age 6Mths - 6yrs. Wow, So that means, Jeremy will get his 1st free eyes screened too!! The best part is, after the screening and interviews, I will receive a total of $40 !! Hurray!
Many tests were carried out before the results are out. And the biggest problem the kids have to face is, dripping eye drops !! Jamie's worst. She wailed, struggled, rubbed eyes, doing all sort of things to protest! And so her results were not 100% accurate while Jeremy managed to complete all the 4 types of eye drops though he was a little unhappy. The results? Both have refractive error, but do not need spectacles. A bit 闪光 (within the range of 50) but the person told me its very common and normal as so far, very few kids have 100% normal sighted. At the end of the day's eye examination, Jamie & Jeremy do not have Amblyopia and/or Strabismus. Phew! Thank God!!

Day 03 (Friday)

Actually we had the most fun at the beach on our last day.. CQ brought the kids near to the wave and sat there with each of them. Of course it was fun while watching the wave hitting against their tiny body, enjoying the magnificent view of the South China Sea! Too bad din snap any shots for all of us were all wet & covered wif sand Then we immediately proceeded to the Petit Club swimming pool for a dip. Halfway through our swim, it started to pour so heavily that we were all stucked in the pool for quite some time. Thank God for the trip!

Almost Forgotten........

I was happily having my late lunch outside with Jamie after our library visit when KKH called to my mobile... Apparently I have signed Jeremy up for the Best Breastfed Baby Contest and this morning supposed to go for the preliminary round at 9am! Oh Gosh!! Luckily, she told us to report to KKH around 345pm after the last contestant. Phew! What's about it? Well, it all happened in less than 5mins when the staff asked me to let Jeremy sit on my lap while she asked me few questions. I only knew the other staff was sort of playing with him. So, how ah? Don't know woh... let's see if he gets into the semi final or not.... shd recd the letter w/i the next 2 weeks.

Numbers Sequence

Jamie started on proper handwriting practises (dot-to-dot, tracing, coloring etc) when she was barely 2.5yrs old. Around 2, she did many pre-writing stuff like pouring of beads/beans/water from left to right container, threading, fingers exercising like playing playdough and peeling of hard boiled eggs' shells. I am glad she started it early as her teachers commented that she is very good in fine motor skills for a 46mths kid.

Self Made Banana Muffins

Was very inspired to try out the cupcakes muffins and if its successful, I'm thinking of using this for Jamie's birthday party at her school instead of the typical birthday cake. But its doesn't seems to be that easy as our conventional oven kept giving me trouble along the way.
