Mini Celebration for Jamie

I did a certificate for Jamie and bought 4 mini muffins for tonight after dinner as to celebrate Jamie accepted Christ on Easter sunday. Nothing fantastic but just to make her feel important to be part of God's family ya.

Cannot Believe that Jamie is growing FAST!

Being a SAHM to my children sometimes can be a physical, challenging and emotional strains but it also means that witnessing them growing and crossing their milestones each day a joy to me !! Just today, I've noticed a small little white tooth emerging out from behind one of her canine tooth ! I am now beginning to learn to let her "go" and have her own decisions made whenever its appropriate/necessary.

Easter Week

Here's the usual red egg in a "basket" the kids brought home today. Wonder if Jeremy really knows the true meaning of Easter ? Hope Jamie will recover fast so that all of us can attend Easter Sunday.

Spot the Different

Jamie did such similar books before though the pictures were much complicated which I reckon Jeremy can accomplish it at this age so I bought this instead. He definitely needs some prompting for now but its surely a good headstart for a 3y 4mths old boy !

Tang Poem

While I was browsing through some books at Popular, I've found this "treasure" book by chance which I find it very useful though its kind of late to introduce Tang poems to Jamie but better than never right?? It comes wif an audio cd wif some activities to complete after reading the entire poems. So this will be part of our homeschool program for the next few months.

DIY Materials Again

I've started sourcing and making flash cards for linking memory exercises that I am going to use it for the children. Very tiring but I think its very worth it. Also getting some cheapo puzzles to drill Jeremy as I realised that while working wif puzzles, it helps to stimulate the child's right brain. So, I've bought 3 sets for Jamie too since she wants to play. Will get the pictures printed out so that they can reference while solving the puzzles.

Off Blogging

It's been a bee-zy week last week + I was down wif very bad UTI + Jeremy suddenly developed mild stomach flu on Sat. And it was also my birthday on 1st April!! Nothing fanciful but am not asking for any present from CQ since there's really nothing much that I am lacking. Anyway, we had a simple dinner outside w the kids and decorated a mini cake to bring home after that. Sounded boring??

Mirror Cube Puzzles

I simply love this IQ game that I've managed to get it from a fren through a Msia supplier ! It's so challenging yet requires a child to think and solve the puzzle at a different level. This was found to be very useful to train Jeremy's observation and problems solving skills. To Jamie, it's just a piece of cake !

More Flash Cards ...

Got these stacks of Chinese flash cards from Lisa lately. It's meant for K2 kids in preparation for P1. After browsing through the words, I think its relatively easy and Jamie can read about 90% of these cards by now. Hmm, wondering how's the standard for higher children kids at P1 level and is Jamie being trained too far beyond P1 ??

Sea Horse Riding on Unicycle

This was done by Jamie during recent weeks while we were relaxing playing some games together. Thought its quite interesting wif her fav "mini" sitting on the Unicycle.

Tonight I've witnessed Jamie doing her exam dance items one by one and this is one of my fav! She did it so well that I almost cannot believe my eyes! Well done, Jamie!

some Couples Run photograph shoots at East Coast Park. I din "woo-ah" over these loots though since I have my own usual sets of skincare products. Shall see who to give it away...

Cooking Session w Mama

Tonight Jamie became my assistant in the kitchen in preparing dinner for the family! She is such a great helper indeed and she did it wif so much joy! Hence I have decided to allow her to help out once a week as I've noticed that there's so much things I can teach her beyond what books can give!

Parent-Child School Holiday Work

This time I am so much caught up wif their daily activites on top of the piling up chores and preparation of their meals that I simply do not have the time to do this work nicely wif Jeremy. Nevermind, there'll be more of such chance (hee, excuse!).

DIY Materials

Wondering why I have no updates lately?? Ya since CQ is on reservist till 27 March, I somehow sleep late and so wif this extra hours I've, I quickly finish up my DIY teaching materials I've planned for the children and #3. So blogging has been put on "hold" for a while....

School Holiday

This is the kids' first school holiday without papa as he will be on reservist till end of March. That's very long to me ley!!!! Should be able to handle... just tat not used not seeing jjpapa at home at night lor.

Logico

This gadget has become Jeremy's daily "dosage" for his right brain stimulation. This set has been handed down from Jamie and Jeremy's turn now. Soon it will be for #3 too!

PanCake

Bought this from Cold Storage and the kids love it so much! And its so easy to prepare vs those premix powder selling at NTUC ! It tastes so much better and easier to cook too!

The Loooong Wait..........

This is one of the worst wait I've ever encountered! I've been eyeing (since last year) to get these Foogoo water bottle in replacement of those non BPA plastic bottles that Jamie & Jeremy are using. It's definitely worth waiting for ! Yea, so they will be using these straw stainless steel water bottles for peace of mind! RSP $41 each and I'm getting one for $28 !

Color Memory

Another right brain training tool that adds into the kids' homeschool curriculum. It's sooooooo good and I love it so much! Jeremy definitely needs lotsa drilling to boost his memory linking skills.

End of Term 1

It's another Term 1 round up and I've gotten back their school works. While browsing through individual work, I've noticed that Jamie is still maintaining her work well although her handwriting is messier than b4. As for Jeremy, I do not have high expectation on him since his motor skill is slower than his Jie-Jie. However, I am pleased to get compliments from his teachers that he pays attention well during lessons and he can focus when doing work. Check out here for few of his school works update!!

Baby Plus Prenatal Educational System

Got this 2nd set from a nice mummy quite some time ago and I finally hit 18weeks whereby I will be wearing this 2x daily till 32weeks ! She has testified that her daughter is more alert when born. Hmm, shall see how it comes when #3 arrives.

Eyes Training

Got few sets from a friend's supplier and started Jamie & Jeremy to train their photographic memory. These are categorized into 4 categories, namely Photo Memory, Color Differentiation, Space Memory and Instance Memory. These games will improve the child’s photographic memory and observation skills. I am very impressed wif such training and hopefully can source some suitable cartoons and DIY myself!

More IQ Games ???

Thank God that both Jamie & Jeremy are very into such brain teasers games and they normally do not fuss whenever we spend some time to play these together. We normally spend our evening time together either reading books or doing some right brain kits. Here Jamie is being challenged and its not easy to solve as each level progresses on. RULE : Put back the 4 puzzle pieces and make sure all boats are hidden except the ones visible on the challenge card. 48 different challenges!

Self Made Flash Cards

Just bought some blank 4x6" blank cards to DIY the multiplication time table for Jamie. I have not started her on time table while finding the best methods to ease her learning. Will be starting wif flash cards + music that reads out the summation while I flash, I'll also be using Kumon assessment book to boost her understanding on multiplication.

Mandarin Speech & Drama

I am just so glad to receive the letter from Jeremy's teacher about the Saturday enrichment at his school! While Jamie only started from Term 3 whereby this time, the school allows nursery kids to start from Term 2!! So the timing will be just nice since Jamie will be going for 9am swimming while Jeremy's lesson commences at 830am.

Flash Cards

I am seriously back into flash cards (especially encyclopedic knowledge topics) sessions wif the kids daily. And more reading of both English & Chinese books too! This is so after realising that Jamie is going to hit 6yo come end July and this would means that her left brain will take over right brain. So, alot of right brain stimulations activities will be jamming up for Jamie.

Meet the Teacher Session

Finally we will get to meet Jeremy's form teacher to discuss about his progress and development in school since the start of school in January. This time, papa will be coming along too! I am equally excited as I am looking forward to see his school works done during school time as well as updates from teacher.

Bye-Bye Bloatedness

I am now into my 16wks of pregnancy and I am feeling soooo much better without having to take small meals and feeling so bloated after that. Yippee! With this surge of energy that I've now, I'm very eager to prepare materials for #3 since I've 2 past teaching experiences wif Jamie & Jeremy. Just last week, I've downloaded tons of b/w newborn pixs and managed to get it printed out today! Gee, definitely much cheaper to DIY than get it outside. And I will be reselling all the laminated cards out once #3 has outgrown it.

Brought Jeremy for a trial session at Little Neuro Tree. Have never enrolled my kids to such right brain enrichments and I must say I'm so amazed but what the kids are learning within the short 1 hour!!! He will be going for anohter 2 more trials before deciding if we should let him complete the entire term or not. Anyway, he can only attend till before I give birth since I've to sit in wif him.

Learning Maths Through Play ??

Very surprised for the first time (since Jamie started studying in this school 2yrs ago) to be invited by their school for a free 2hrs workshop for parents!! No harm going right ?

Parent Volunteer Updates

After sending 2 emails to inform the school of my pregnancy, there's still no news so I quickly picked up the phone and dialled the number. Thank God I received their replies via phone call and an email today! So I will be assign for desk bound or indoor activities instead. Kudos to journey to complete my remaining 26hours!!

Primary Preparation ??

This has not really crossed my mind since I thought I'm drilling Jamie pretty well since she was 1+. We will do all sorts of brain teasers activities, ranging from IQ games to worksheets and reading etc etc. After reading this article, I realised that there's still some works yet to be drill on!! So, parents, do read on and find out where you are at before heading for herps of surprises next year! Enjoy!

On Fire!!

This shocked me when I looked up into the sky near my block! I quickly rang my fren and asked if her flat is on fire and thank God its not. But its surely one of the unit/flat nearby caught fire! Hope nobody is hurt.

Valentine's Gift

Did a very simple gift for CQ within a very short period of time when kids were not around. As years get by, our ways of celebrating such events have also "down scaled" to more practical and meaningful gifts/meals. And coincidently, we had our in laws and WJ at our place over for a dinner, hahahahaa!!

IQ Hoppers Game

Jamie likes to play wif this game so much so that she is approaching completion after 1 last game to go.... Ask me why? Well, she said she loves the frog!

This has been highly recommended by alot of forum mummies as well as a personal fren of mine who has just given birth 2mths ago. Thank God that I managed to find 1 seller who happened to clear this off after using it for 5mths. So it's as good as new and I got this at 50% off!

KinderKit Game Set

This is another game that he is finally "fit" to play ! Frankly speaking, I prefer to train him using such gadgets however he will be lacking in writing skills should I not pump up some activity worksheets for him.

Mighty Mind Game

Finally I can take out this game to train Jeremy after Jamie had completed this long time ago. There's going to be more of such mind training games to stimulate him in days to come !

Jamie took home a chinese homework to be submitted coming Monday. While I was resting on the sofa, I seized the opportunity and asked her to match the words together.

Kungfu Panda

Papa rented the movie and got the kids to watch it on 2nd day of CNY. We have been tempted to rent this for the family to watch many times ago but was put on hold as CQ was worried about those violate kungfu acts that may "corrupt" their minds. Anyway, quite a regretful move. Jamie drew her fav "Master Shifu" last night. I think its quite cute.

Missing-In-Action

I have been off blogging for almost 10days although I'm still able to find time to log in to check mails n stuff. I am definitely busier becos we have just sent our domestic helper back home. And we are now without any help. If you ask me how I manage, well, by God's grace I am doing good except I couldn't whip up a 3 dishes 1 soup dinner for the family. For this, we've decided to get Tingkat instead.

Montessori Phonics

I've formally started Jeremy on the Montessori Pink Scheme (level 1, 3 letter words). As he hasn't started to write yet (still on pre-writing exercises), I won't be covering the worksheets as of now.

Preston

Ever since the end of school holiday, I've started Jamie again wif daily language, Math, IQ practise again. Now that she has graduated from Montessori phonics, I can now focus more on Grammar wif her instead. This is one of my fav book that I'm using to teach her. It's so thin yet a very comprehensive book indeed! I remembered I did this when I was in my school days too.
