Joshua's Milestones

This should be documented long time ago.... anyway, since young, he has been using his index finger and thumb to pick up things and loves to spin any objects that's round in shaped. Lately, I've managaed to dig out this "old toy" from the storeroom and guess what? Joshua has already outgrown it ! Wow, he is really fast attaining it and look at him... applausing at his own achievement!!

Jeremy's Artwork @ Kinderart Term 1

It's been quite a while since I last updated his drawing progress at Kinderart. Here, I've found his latest artwork pinned up at his kindy's noticeboard near to the school's entrance. No wonder he is so proud of his finished work!

Can Doctor Diagnose Wrongly ??

I woke up feeling uncertained and kind of worry for Joshua for he didn't sleep much after waking at 4am+ for milk feed. He must be feeling uncomfortable and moreover wif the fever that was still very high. Wanting to go for 2nd opinion, I took him to a local PD located nearby. After checking his heartbeat and stomach via the stethoscope and looked once, yes just once into his mouth, he "declared" Joshua having HFMD! It's so different from the GP's diagnosed!

Falling ill In and Out

Ever since Joshua turned 1 last month, he fell ill for the very first time (common cough and cold) and got recovered shortly and then just this week, he got sick again! Sigh.... ! The GP told me that it's a very very bad ulcers that caused Josh to have very persistent high fever and this will probably go on for days. Continue to pray for God's healing hands upon him that he will quickly bounce back to pink of health again.

September School Holiday Parent-Child Craftwork

As usual, this was done last minute on yesterday. We are suppose to create an insect using scrap materials such as satay sticks, ice cream sticks, pipe cleaners, feathers, wires, fabric, netting, aluminium foil and dried leaves. Gotta name the body parts and submit this assignment today. Little did I realised that we have forgotten to name its body parts and swiftly asked Jeremy to write it on a paper (head, thorax and abdomen) and to hand it to his teacher tomorrow.

Painting

It's the children's September school holiday and today, after a long break, the children have a wonderful time of doodling and painting at home! Yes at home, not along our corridor's wall as what I usually do. And it's also Joshua's 1st time experience wif paint too! He is sure curious and overwhelmed but it was FUN!

Self Feeding

I must admit that I am not as "on-the-ball" when comes to training Joshua to be independent. Things like toilet training (although I've been putting him onto the toilet bowl to pass urine/motion, there's still no sense of urgency to see him off diaper/training pants) and feeding himself. Anyway, just for a start, I've started to allow him to hold the spoon himself for that split seconds for some self explorations :)

What's Next??

As I further shared my findings wif a friend who is into the children's whole brain education, I realised that I can do simple brain exercises with Jamie at home. With frequent practises to stimulate and keeps her midbrain activated, I believe, Jamie will be able to advance to a higher level of intelligence. The above picture showed the position of our midbrain. The red spot in the middle is the midbrain. It is in the sleeping mode before midbrain activation. Sadness and stress is the key factors to put the midbrain to sleep.

Research

As I was doing my own research via the net about the midbrain activation, few things to note are, when the child's midbrain is still active, he/she can experience better memory, concentration, improves creativity, talents as well as rebuild character and emotional stability. Overall, the child is happier and should be able to excel in many aspects of his life, be it academic, sports or a hidden talents. Nevertheless, this is possible when the child is not under stress or learning in an unhappy state of mind. Just when I thought Jamie's midbrain should be dormant since she's already 7 years old (a child's midbrain will become dormant by age of 5), someone told me to try a simple exercise on her (she was able to tell me the color of the red crayon, blind folded!!) to see if its really closed. Guess what?? Her midbrain is somewhat sensitive! Yippee!! So now, what's next huh??
