Early Birthday Celebration

Jeremy wanted to do it in school and so I did one for him wif goody bags & a cake chosen by himself just a day before school holiday starts tomorrow. He was soooo happy n I am glad to see him so independant & sensible now vs a year ago. Here's a photo of Mdm Soh, his form teacher wif Jeremy.

P1 Orientation

It was early, 9am. Jamie along wif CQ and I were at the school's orientation this morning. We were separated from her the moment we were there. We were ushered to the hall and briefed for an hour's of introductions from the principal and various teachers-in-charge. The next 1/2hr or so was more of administrative whereby we have to fill in & submit various forms. Everything ended around 11am. Didn't buy any textbooks or uniforms at the moment. Oh yes, Jamie said she was "tested" in English & Maths as well as some reading. Overall, she said its easy. Hmm, the school will inform us which class she will be allocated next month. Pray that she will be in one of the better class.

K2 Final Meet the Teachers Session

Today was Jamie's last and final round of meeting her teachers. We were kind of late (reached almost 12noon whereby the latest time to meet the teachers was 1230pm!) and I thought there shouldn't be much crowd afterall it began at 830am. However I was wrong! There were still a handful of parents who were like me, who also came late!

Anyway, somehow I wasn't very eager to know how she faired this later part of the year but was rather busy bringing her around the school, taking photos wif her friends and giving out farewell gifts to the principal and teachers. After meeting the form teacher and Yan Lao-Shi, it was concluded that Jamie has "run the race well" and I'm happy wif her performance. She wouldn't have gone so far if not because of what God had done in her life. Praise the Lord!!

Aural Mental Arithematic Practise

After months of twice weekly training, we finally see some results from Jamie. This was recorded impromptu late last night at almost 11pm.

Farewell Gift

Jamie will be distributing all these to her classmates today. I've also included a self laminated card wif her email address & blog address on it. Aren't the ladybugs cute? And coincidently, there's ONLY 1 yellow coin bank which I've instructed her form teacher to pass to her later on.

And I will prepare some farewell gifts too for her teachers in school....

Canvas Painting

A close fren helped me get a few sets of canvas painting from Gaint and the kids were so excited when they saw it! Jamie wanted to give it to her principal as farewell gift.

Jurong Calvary Kindergarten Graduation Cum Christmas Drama

Brain Blogger IQ Math/Eng lish Book

Bought "Never-Bored Kid" (by Eva Moor) book for Jamie some time ago and since she need not have to go to school in the morning (report to sch by 330pm 4 tonight's graduation), I started her on first few pages. As its meant for age 8-9, grade 3-4, I wasn't prepared to introduce her so early for fear that she might not be able to understand the concept well. Surprisingly, it wasn't that tought afterall!

Full Dressed Rehearsal

Glad I came. Thanks to the bus operator's tipped off. Can see Jamie? She's fourth from the right. I still dun quite like the dress color though the boys do look smart in it.

K2 Graduation Concert

This Friday is Jamie's graduation. Time passed so swiftly. At a blink of an eye, she's gonna graduate from kindergarten 2!! Today finally she took back her performance purple dress. Wif the "improvised" patent shoes (the shoes is about 1" bigger which I managed to put in sole and some tissue papers in front) & lacy socks I've borrowed from a fren, everything is now ready !!

Phonics Programmes

Ever since I've started Jeremy in phonics at home, he has shown obvious improvement in memorising the single sounds of the alphabets. And now we are moving quickly into word families. Who says its too late to introduce at 3yrs 10mths ? I suppose the important note is not whether to introduce it early or at later stage, but whether the child is willing and receptive (which i still believe in early literacy) to learn. And when you are able grasp the child's "right timing", you will see positive results instead. Here's one of the interesting video clips I've managed to source from youtube.
