Practical Life

I finally pick up my "xian-ness" and started to teach Jamie some of the practical life exercises at home. This is one of the task that Jamie needs to complete, ie, to pour the jug of green beans, first, into the left cup then the remaining into the right cup. Yes, I am trying to use the Montessori way of homeschooling Jamie while I can. This also one of the exercises that Montessori schools use to teach young toddlers for pre-writing.

我 会 读

After much hesitation, I finally bought the 1st series of "我 会 读" (12books in total) which suppose to teach young toddlers to recognise chinese words rather than listening. So I will try to read to Jamie on daily basis by simply reading the words page after page. And after several rounds of reading to her, she can now recognise most of the family names like 爸爸 , 妈妈 , 哥哥, 姐姐 etc

Frens' Gathering

After months of co-ordination work (thanks to Peiling!!), we finally meet up again. This time at my place.
It's always good to catch up with one another to find out how's our life been and we are always running out of time to chat especially with the two active toddlers around! Soon... baby Shiqin will be joining the 2 to make 3!!! Arggh!!

Feng Shui Yu

This is my fil's fav fish.
As far as I can recall, this fish probably is at least 8years old. It was a tiny little fish when I first visited.
You may not know something about this fish. It has a few "near death" episodes which nearly caused its life but was sort of revived by merely consuming some tea leaves known as "Ku Ting Cha" bought from China, Hainan by fil.
And I've been teaching Jamie about Opposite words lately. Hence I use this fish as an example since there's a small fish in this tank (which is not seen in this pix....too tiny!) which I used them to differentiate "big" & "small".

Storage Boxes

We bought 6 such IKEA stackable storage boxes during sales 1 1/2 years ago. Soon I felt regretted though they may look nice and neat from afar but a closer look, the toys inside are in real mess state!! Imagine, every day, I gotta carry down the boxes so that Jamie can reach to the toys inside. Not only that, she has problem looking for the specified toy that she wants. So frustration set in and worst, slowly... she lost interest in playing the toys. Old Ikea storage boxes See the difference??? I will probably label the boxes so that she will learn to put things back in the correct boxes. This will take time but isn't it a better solution? At least neater and more organised. And the boxes are small & light weight hence easier for them to take out themselves ! new storage boxes

Bloatedness, Indigestion & Burp

These are the symptoms that I'm experiencing daily, now that I'm expecting.
It's a whole lot of different experience now vs the previous round. When I was expecting Jamie, everything's a smooth sailing. No morning sickness, no sudden outbreak of appetite except for tiredness during the 1st trimester. I ate whatever I wanted to. I was as active as before.
This time, I only have appetite for soupy stuff. Hated rice. For the past 3 weeks, every single day, I struggle with food! What should I eat, when should I eat and the amount I should eat to avoid indigestion and bloatedness which is such a terrible feeling to bear!!! My taste buds seem to change. And I'm losing weight already!!!
Another strange thing is, I don't feel as much tired as expecting moms are in their 1st trimester. I seldom take naps except nowadays that I go to bed earlier.
Changes are inevitable. Just hope that I will get better when I'm in 2nd trimester.
** That's explained why I have not been blogging lately.... laziness has taken its priority in me ......**

...... 26 April 2005

Few days after we came back from Perth... I felt sort of worry as my period is exceptionally late this time. Usually around 1 1/2mths but this time its almost 2months late.
So I asked CQ to buy a test kit (though in my mind I thought it will be negative results since I last tested a week b4 our trip).
It was 8pm. Results was out shortly. It's not exactly a positive ... just that the line was very faint. In any case, I wanted to see a Gynae, just in case, if its not, then what's wrong with me for the much delayed?
Tried to book appt with my previous Gynae but she was on leave till 4th May. We couldn't tarry longer so an appt with fixed with another Gynae at TMC three days later.
29 April 2005 (Friday) : 11.45am
I wasn't nervous nor am I excited. This time was kind of different when I'm expecting Jamie.
An internal scan was done and confirmed that I'm expecting No.2 ! EDD Christmas Eve !!
What a relief ! So my w*** is perfectly normal
We left the clinic... as usual... not much excitment stirred.

Cottesloe Beach (our last destination)

I know this trip will be incomplete or rather unfulfilled if we do not go to any beach in Perth. I wanted Jamie to know what is called beach, sand, sea and wave. And most of all, to catch the beautiful sunset if we can. So when Jamie was having her usual afternoon nap in her pram, we took the train ride from Perth City to the Cottesloe Beach which is one of the recommended beach in Perth. It's also easily reach by a direct 20mins train ride (AS$7.50 for return trip for 2 adults 5 kids) and about 10mins walk by foot.
Here finally we are, just in time to enjoy the cool breeze, a slow walk along the beach and took some photos before the sun set across the horizon. It's real beautiful and memorable indeed!

today is the coldest so far! We suspected probably around 12 degress celsius or even lower Jamie 1st contact wif sand Jamie was so cold that she was trembling and shivering whenever the wind blew (look at the person behind us! Obviously its cold!)

24 April 2005 - Our Last Day ...

This morning, we finally checked out from our cosy apartment to a 3-star hotel (Goodearth Hotel) just 5mins walk away, to deposit our luggages there since our flight is almost pass midnight, 2355hrs! Overlooking the Swan River from our 7th floor window Raising of flags on Anzac Day (to commemorate those who died in the war..) ..walking towards the Swan Bell along the coast of Swan River

I am very thirsty! Mama pls buy me a drink pls..... We are finally at The Swan Bell and one can loudly hear the bells ringing in the air from the Tower of course!! ... a different view from roof top volunteers busy pulling their respective strings in order to ring the bells at level 3... wow look! papa!! BIG bells!!! whao.... now I finally know how people tell the time in the older days.... CQ secretly took a snap of our dd enjoying walking alone in a straight path... Jamie can pronoun flower in Mandarin so much accurate than in English
