Look Alike ?

This picture was taken a month's ago. I'm thinking, does Jamie really looks like me? Cos wherever we go, I will get some kind of remarks like ".. oh your daughter looks like you ..." What say you ???

Baby Progress

2 of our frens' wives have just given birth one after another since last week and I begin to realise that "my day" will arrive VERY soon... 9weeks to countdown!! Perhaps having to babysit a young toddler at home, keep me so much busier that I did not even realise that time passed so fast!! This 2nd pregnancy also give me an almost different experience right from the beginning when I conceived. This baby moves ALOT more than Jamie and somehow I'm getting more and more nervous as the DAY approaches.....

Flash Cards

Finally I received my blank flash cards from 2 separate suppliers this afternoon. Mmm... I will probably start off with my 130 customized Chinese word lists and have it printed out so that I can use it to teach Jamie (tried writing it on the cards but I simply cannot tolerate my handwriting!! Hence gonna print it out instead..more time consuming, definitely!)

How To Teach Your Baby to Read

I have been exploring many English educational books since early this year and have yet to find the so-called best solution to teach Jamie how to recognise words rather than pictures which she is capable of naming most of those commercial flash cards + pictures that I bought from Popular Bookstore.
While Jamie is currently reading I Can Read Chinese progressive books when she was about 19months old (she is capable of recognising the Chinese words after rounds of reading), I have yet to find a compatible English resources for her till I happened to read up from a local forum regarding Glenn Doman's teaching, The Gentle Revolution. However to invest in GD's English Reading Kit, is not going to be cheap!! After many days & nights of sourcing, connecting & getting suggestions from various moms who had used the kit (their children are now able to read books that are at beyond their age range), I finally found the solution whereby I need not have to invest in the reading kit at all! Hurray !! I am truly excited about it and am looking forward to start Jamie on GD's teaching soon.

As for the Maths Kits, I will loan it from a fren who is willing to let me try it out :D

Jamie's Fav Playing Corner

This becomes her favourite playing corner every time when I go for my checkup at Raffles Hospital. She loves to hug the turtle soft toy while sitting in the Step 2 car. At least this will keep her busy while I take my time off for a cup of hot chocolate and of course flipping through the magazines.
And I am glad that I managed to hit baby's weight equivalent to Jamie's when she was around 31 weeks old. As the gynae had mentioned previously that our son will be somewhere around 40th percentile, I need to continue to consume at least 2-3 glasses of milk. Baby's weight, in fact is slightly higher than Jamie.. 1.45kg. Jamie was around 1.4kg.

Happy Birthday, Godmum!!

Today's godmum birthday. Time really flies... she's already 65 years of age!! We had a lunch celebration with godmum and family at a restaurant near Clementi. The paper wrappin chicken simply fan-tas-tic!!!!!
While CQ was kind to help me to babysit our cranky Jamie (due to the medication that she had taken this morning), I managed to have some private time catching up with godmum and the rest. It will probably be quite some time later, or perhaps after I give birth, before we can chat again.

Reading Time

While I was busy digging out clothes, hoping to find some nice & presentable one to wear during Katy & Sze Wee's wedding tea ceremony, Jamie was found quietly seated at the reading corner with her books.

Artist at Work

Jamie asked for a painting the moment she woke up. So while waiting for my breakfast (who else but CQ!), she had her request granted.

The Pink Tower

Since Jamie's ill this week, both of us are sort of home bound for the past and next few days. And I find time harder to pass as I need to find more things for her to do. Then I suddenly recalled having this set of Montessori materials that I bought some time back which I think its about time that (suitable for 2 1/2 years above toddlers) I should start to teach her using these materials. Here I am teaching Jamie to build a pink tower, ranging from the biggest block at the bottom right up to the top. This is suppose to develop the child's visual and muscular perception of dimension.

Tues morning she was down with real bad coughing, some sneezes and high fever (>38.3 degress celsius) !!! That kept me in 100% alertness as we don't want her to kena another febrile fits again!! Oh boy, it was SO tiring man!! Hope she will recover real soon.

Splash, Splash

Daryl SMSed me earlier on, asking me out for a swim at Aster's new "nest" .. a condo along CCK. Knowing Jamie loves to swim though we have not been bringing her out for a swim since long time ago. After much consideration (actually feeling quite lethargic + I din have a proper maternity swimwear), I decided to bring Jamie out around 615pm. The 50mins dip was simply great! Initially Jamie seemed to shiver pretty much but after few mins, she started to enjoy sitting around the edge of the pool and of course, sliding down the slide in the middle of the children's pool! Mmm.. we shall come back in few weeks for sure!!

No More Porridge

Can't recall exactly which day I have FINALLY decided to let Jamie go without porridge... yes rice for dinner!! It just started so naturally when one fine day, as usual, I went over to see what fil cooks for dinner and found that the rice seemed soft and decided that it's time I should let Jamie to try it out.
Yup I have finally found the "right time" to let her teeth chew on rice instead of soft meshy porridge. And thank God Jamie managed to swallow it pretty well. Hence my Plan A continues for the next few days... and it works !!! Hurray !!!
Now I can comfortably just bring her out without having to rush home to cook her porridge. The so-called secret to my litttle success is this.... just make sure her dinner starts after her last milk feed before her nap, ie 3-4hours later. Sigh, should have realised this much earlier... anyway, I am glad that at least I need not have to worry about her meals when the baby arrives in Dec!

Being Fair ?

Went for gynae routine checkup yesterday. Was quite disappointed to know that baby's still hovering around 40th percentile despite me drinking at least 2-3 glasses of Enfamama daily. Well, not that I'm kiasu but guess I'm already so used to Jamie's "pince-able" face and when told that our son will be slightly smaller than his jie-jie, my reaction was almost instinct ... "hah...." Nevermind I shall continue to drink more milk, eat eggs and stop drinking tea. (though I only dipped the teabag for few secs before discarding it away)
Anyway, I was telling CQ that our son should get his newborn picture taken by a professional photography in the hospital just as Jamie did hers. Cos I don't wanna get into a difficult situation when one day, our son questions us why jie-jie had it and he didn't ? Haiz... soon we will have to play fair in our treatment towards our kids...
